Gospel Share

Gospel Share is a GTK frontend to the LDS Scriptures and other public domain religious works published by the Church.

Project Details

I'm still trying to decide which language to code this project in. I've narrowed it down to Python GTK or Perl GTK. Either way, it will use Gtk as the frontend (for cross-platform availability) and SQLite as the backend (for licensing purposes).

There aren't any releases yet, since I have to learn the language. Feature requests and ideas are very welcome.

GospelShare is not GospelLink

GospelShare is not a clone or derivative work of GospelLink, and I'll make sure that any texts, though they may be included in the two, were not exported from Deseret Book's software.

GospelShare and Sword

There is a great API for religious text called Sword, and programs that can read these modules. I thought about simply porting the Scriptures and other works to that, and building on / improving projects like GnomeSword or something like that, but I think that this software will eventually have certain characteristics and needs that apply to an LDS audience with differing needs. I'm certainly not going to fork any projects, but one goal I do have is to be able to include and read Sword modules. I'm planning on creating some Sword modules from the LDS canon of scriptures as well.
